I love Facebook for a lot of reasons--today I love it because it provides me with a 366-person accountability team. I again faced the sluggish monster today as the clocked rolled around to 12:00 and it was time for a lunch break run. Though the day was beautiful, sunny yet chilly with a lovely breeze--I really just wanted to skip my run. I grappled and grappled with it. Finally I posted this on Facebook:
"Why do I not feel like going for my lunch time run? It's beautiful outside with the perfect balance of sunshine and chilliness--why am I not springing out of my work chair and into my running shoes today?? OK, Facebook, I'm going to let you hold me accountable...off I go."
As soon as I hit "post" I felt this compulsion to go because now everybody knows! While I was running I thought a few times, "I so just wanna stop and walk" but then I thought of the RunKeeper post that would occur at the end of my run, and I didn't want everyone to see that I only went .75 miles. It was a real motivator! In the end I went 3.01 miles in 30:51 minutes and was proud to have it posted on Facebook as proof that I had slayed the sluggish monster once again. Thanks, Facebook--you came through for me today!
